I am a storyteller, a lover for words and a believer of achieving the impossible. I am a firm believer in the notion that the past does not define who we are, it simply molds us and guides our decisions until we become who we are meant to be.
I am thankful for a fruitful career that has allowed me to embrace what I love doing – and that is bringing to life compelling, colorful stories that connect people in powerful ways.
I am an energetic professional with experience in marketing, advertising, news and PR. I currently devote my time as a communications and public affairs professional in Dallas.
In 2013, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Southern Methodist University and graduated with honors in Magna Cum Laude representing the top 10 percent of my class. During my time at SMU, I shared my love for education with local students by becoming a private educator. This was such an amazing opportunity to support students and inspire them to pursue their educational dreams. In the course of my community involvement with youth, I was invited to speak to Dallas high school students about my story and the importance of education despite financial hardship and disadvantaged circumstances. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life - and I am thankful for the opportunity and the extraordinary young people I will never forget.
After graduation, I went on to strengthen my skills as a multimedia journalist. I worked as an intern and freelance journalist for KERA News and Art&Seek. Shortly after my time at KERA, I dove into the world of public relations and communications in the Office of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor. In 2014, I was invited to participate as an American Indian guest speaker at the Native Media Summit in Norman, Oklahoma, where I spoke to Native radio and television broadcasters about marketing and engagement strategies on social media.
Within the last few years of my career, I have had the privilege to share my love of storytelling through diverse roles. I am motivated, passionate and always looking for new ways to challenge myself and grow. When I am not hard at work, you can find me buried in a dystopian fiction, gaming on PS4 or globetrotting to somewhere new in the world.
